Wood from forests
The production cycle of the raw materials used for our packaging solutions, in case they are made of non-recycled paper of cellulosic origin, starts in FSC® certified forests.
The peculiarity of such forests, which are largely made up by Scotch pine with birch and red fir, lies in their controlled, sustainable management guided by the ten FSC principles, which are based on social, economic and environmental sustainability criteria.
Wood processing in paper mills
The wood obtained from these forests is subsequently processed by paper mills, which also handle paper and cardboard rejects coming from other factories.
Huge paper reels that are 80% made of recycled paper and only 20% made of virgin fibre, which is obtained from wood processing.
Progroup Board, our partner in the production plant of Drizzona, is part of Progroup AG, which produces in Germany around 1,200,000 tons of recycled paper per year.
With the support of Progroup Board, Imbal Carton will therefore try to reduce to zero the use of vegetable origin paper, in order to protect our planet.
Corrugated cardboard production
Reels continue their path along the production chain until reaching corrugated cardboard production plants. Thanks to the partnership with Progroup Board, we have at our disposal particular production lines called ‘corrugators’, which produce sheets of corrugated cardboard to be used for packaging.
Cardboard packaging production
In this last phase, by using case makers, printers, punching machines and folding gluing machines, we manufacture corrugated cardboard packages, packaging solutions and customised packages. As we have in one single production plant a Corrugator and machines for package production, we are able to guarantee a more sustainable high-quality production, reducing economic and environmental costs, in terms of both production and logistics
