On 1 January 2019, the new VerpackG Packaging Act came into force in Germany to replace the “VerpackV” packaging regulation, which will bring significant changes to achieve greater transparency, control and accountability to commercialized packaging.
Who is the new law addressed to?
The Act is addressed to all those who on the German market for the first time pack goods for use and consumption by a private end consumer or their marketing.
Therefore, the VerpackG order does not apply to producers of boxes and packaging from Italy (for example Imbal Carton), but it must be respected by those who place products packaged on the B2C market (business to consumer) on the German market.
More information on new obligations and sanctions can be found in the communication published by the Italian-German Chamber of Commerce.
